How should I wash my linen?

For hygienic reasons, we recommend a full wash with hot water using a mild soap solution rather than high levels of biological soap powders.
• Dyed and yarn-dyed linen: Wash at Cotton 60 degrees
• White linen: Wash as Cotton at the highest temperature possible

How do I iron my linen?

Iron your linen at the highest setting and avoid scorching by taking care not to leave the iron in stationary contact with the cloth more than a few seconds. Keep the iron plate away from the pillowcase and duvet cover openings as it can catch and result in small tears. For best results, iron the embroidery work on the reverse side and avoid contact between the tip of the iron and the embroidery.

How do I fold a fitted sheet?

• Take hold of two adjacent corners.
• Pull them arm’s length apart.
• Your hands should be on the inside, with the sheet inside out.
• Fold one corner over the other and hold them in one hand.
• With one hand now free you can take a third corner and tuck it into the others, and do the fourth.
• You should be pinching all four corners with one hand, covered by the sheet.
• Straighten the loose edges and lay the sheet on a flat surface.
• Fold in thirds both lengthways and across into a square.

What is a valance?

A bed skirt or valance sits between your mattress and the box spring. It allows your bed to look stylish while hiding the sides of the box spring or storage space under the bed.

What is a bedspread?

A bedspread covers your bed all the way to the ground and is intended as a top layer.

What is a comforter?

Comforters are filled with layers of material including, polyester batting, down, wool or silk. The thickness or loft of the filling determines the weight and level of insulation.

What is a coverlet?

A coverlet covers your bed to the top of the bed skirt. It’s slightly more versatile than a bedspread and can be used to create an accent piece. They’re usually quilted or woven and often have a thin layer of wadding so that you can use them as a stand-alone bed covering.

What are decorative pillows or cushions?

These small decorative pillows often go in front of your pillow collection and are generally square.

What is a duvet?

Duvets are designed to be reused with multiple duvet covers and are filled with down, feathers or a synthetic alternative.

You can use one alone or add an extra coverlet or bedspread.

What is a fitted sheet?

Fitted sheets or bottom sheets are used to cover the mattress and give you a smooth, soft surface to sleep on.

When it comes to choosing yours, make sure you know the right length, width and depth of your mattress.

What is a flat sheet?

These are typically placed over a fitted sheet and tucked into the sides and bottom of the mattress beneath the duvet or comforter.

They make your bed a little more welcoming and protect your covers from getting dirty.

What is a pillow case?

Pillow cases are designed to sleep on. They usually open at one end, contain a flange at the opening, and protect your pillow.

What is a pillow sham?

Pillow shams first emerged in the 1700s and are decorative pillow cases that may be slept on, but are usually used as support while sitting in bed and as eye-catching accessories during the day.

They typically have a tuck flap on the back and have all four sides finished with flange or cording.

What is a throw?

Colourful throws or blankets add colour, texture (or both) in addition to casual cosiness when laid on your bed.

How do I measure my bed for a fitted sheet?

• Before you order your fitted sheet, you need to measure your bed to make sure you know the depth including your mattress, fatherbeds, matress pads or toppers.
• Remove all linens, blankers, duvets, etc.
• Leave on any mattress protectors or toppers.
• Measure the depth from the top to the bottom seam in several places.
• If you have a pillow top mattress and it appears higher in the middle, add a little more depth to compensate.

How do I measure my bed for a valance?

Before you order your valance, you need to measure your bed to make sure you know the depth from the bottom of your mattress (top of your base) to the floor.
